OUR HISTORY:
The Portland Tap Connection
has been entertaining Pacific Northwest Audiences for more than
15 years.

Performing classic jazz-tap in traditional Broadway style, The Portland
Tap Connection has appeared at conventions, corporate events, festivals,
fairs, benefits and fund-raisers, both public and private. Our routines
include a variety of styles, rhythms and music, from classical to soft-shoe,
from clogging to precision patterns. Singers, musicians, and other novelty
acts round out our show into a rollicking fun-filled “Follies”!
Cherie Cheney Nomura has taught Broadway-style jazz-tap
for over 25 years to Portland area dancers. The daughter of Ed Cheney,
Cherie has been dancing all of her life and her background includes
tap, ballet, ballroom and jazz. She has worked for many years as a professional
dance consultant and choreographer
The Portland Tap Connection began as a group of Cherie’s students
who had developed their skills to performance level. Under Cherie’s
guidance, the dance troupe has become well known throughout the Pacific
Northwest for its lively and colorful shows.
