About Us
The Portland Tap Connection has been entertaining Pacific Northwest audiences for more than 20 years. The lively dance troupe was started in the 1990s by Cherie Cheney Nomura, professional dance consultant and choreographer, with some of her students who had developed their skills to performance level. Although Cherie Cheney Nomura is no longer directing Portland Tap Connection, she created a crowd-pleasing dance troupe continues to this day.
Our Director
Judy Tibbles is the award-winning Artistic Director and Choreographer for the Portland Tap Connection and Skylark Tappers. She is an active tap instructor, teaching at multiple locations in the Portland area. Judy enjoys exploring a range of tap styles and rhythmic patterns. She is at the pulse of keeping Portland's tap community strong and regularly promotes special tap events and visiting artists. We are lucky to have her talent, vision and expertise!
